Epidemiological and clinical profile of tuberculosis and Tb/Hiv co-infection in nord-ubangi, democratic republic of the Congo

Abstract
The Democratic Republic of the Congo is one of the 22 high burden countries affected by tuberculosis in the world, notably with several cases raised of pharmacoresistances. However, Nord-Ubangi province does not possess any reliable data on this disease. It was question to value the epidemiological and clinical profile of this pathology in this province. A longitudinal descriptive study was conducted on both the diagnosed and treated tuberculosis patients and the co-infection TB/HIV between 2006 and 2018 in Nord Ubangi Province. The findings show that Karawa health zone has a strong prevalence of tuberculosis compared to other health zones. The most worrying rate level was reached in 2017 with 197 recorded cases. However, considering all health zones, the number of the presumed rather increased, passing from 4921 cases in 2016 to 6717 cases in 2018. Otherwise, the rate of detection in children was high in Bili health zone with 17 recorded cases. Out of 146 cases tested HIV positive, 50 cases (34.2%) are declared positive, but are not under treatment. While 46 (31.5%) declared seropositive, only follow a treatment against the tuberculosis. The 50 seropositive remaining (34.2%) are under treatment of ARV. In the present study, it was observed that the rate of the therapeutic success was good ca. However, a regular surveillance is required in order to have the actualized data, and to better monitor the evolution this infectious pathology.
