Abstract
This study aims to analyze the relationship
between self-confidence, relationships with peers, and their interactions with
cheating behavior in students of class VIII and IX at SMP Negeri 6 Percut Sei
Tuan. The method used is quantitative research with the identification of
independent variables (Self Confidence and Peers) and the dependent variable (Cheating
Behavior). The population consists of 400 students, with a sample of 114
students. The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship
between self-confidence and cheating behavior (rx1y = 0.899, p < 0.05),
indicating that the higher the self-confidence, the higher the cheating
behavior. There is also a significant positive relationship between peer
influence and cheating behavior (rx2y = 0.777, p <0.05), demonstrated that
peer influence contributes to cheating behavior. Furthermore, there is a
significant positive relationship between self-confidence and peers and
cheating behavior (F reg = 379.154, p < 0.05; R = 0.910, p < 0.05; R2 =
0.828), indicating that the two jointly influence cheating behavior, with a
contribution of 82.8%. This study concludes that self-confidence and peer
influence have an important role in influencing students' cheating behavior.
